On June 22, 2025, I completed a beautiful eBike tour of about 30.6 km, with 920 m of elevation gain, exploring some of the most scenic areas of the Triangolo Lariano (Larian Triangle). It was an incredible ride filled with stunning views, shaded forests, and welcoming mountain huts—an experience blending sport, nature, and authentic mountain hospitality.

And I wasn’t alone: I shared this adventure with my friend Paolo, who completed the entire route on a traditional mountain bike—respect!

🌄 From Como to Brunate and Baita Bondella

The ride started near Como, climbing up to Brunate, a famous balcony overlooking Lake Como. Just above the village, we stopped at Baita Bondella, a cozy hut surrounded by greenery, run by super friendly staff. Enjoying a cappuccino on the panoramic terrace was the perfect way to kick off the day.

🏞️ Along the Ridge and Capanna CAO

We continued uphill, riding along the historic Capanna CAO, a well-known stop along the Dorsale Lariana ridge. This scenic route connects many panoramic peaks above the lake and is a favorite among hikers and bikers alike.

✨ The Beech Trail (Sentiero dei Faggi): A Dreamlike Stretch

The most magical part of the ride was without doubt the Beech Trail (Sentiero dei Faggi), a stunning path between Bocchetta di Lemna and Bocchetta di Molina, running at about 1100 meters altitude on the northwest slope of Monte Bolettone.

The trail is almost flat and winds through a dense beech forest, offering a peaceful, shaded atmosphere. Riding through it was a joy: the filtered sunlight, the cool air, and the scent of the undergrowth made it a truly unforgettable experience.

The trail surface is firm and well maintained, suitable for bikes in summer, though caution is advised during rainy or icy periods.

🏡 Mountain Huts and Stops Along the Way

One of the great aspects of this tour is the variety of mountain huts and rest areas encountered along the way:

• Baita Bondella – above Brunate, welcoming and run by warm-hearted people.
• Capanna CAO – a classic stop along the Dorsale Lariana.
• Capanna Mara – near Bocchetta di Lemna, surrounded by peaceful forest.
• Alpe del Vicerè – near Albavilla, accessible and perfect for families and hikers.

📷 Emotions and Scenic Vistas

Beyond the beech woods, the route also offered amazing views between Croce d’Ardona and Monte Bolletto, overlooking the western branch of Lake Como. The crisp air and clear light turned every moment into a photo opportunity.

The eBike made it more accessible, while my friend Paolo deserves full credit for completing it with pure leg power!
